The Pezula Member Guest tournament got off to a leisurely start with the opening of the on-line bidding group on WhatsApp. The members and guests were all a bit cagey with their bidding and obviously didn’t want to highlight the favourites too early!

This all changed on Friday evening when the auctioneer, Ashley Weir, introduced each pairing with a little biography to encourage the bidding – and it certainly worked, as by the end of the evening the auction pot stood at R60 300. Our celebrity for the weekend, Percy Montgomery who was there for a Q&A session and to showcase his Tequila El Centurion, and his partner Craig Pottinger attracted the highest bid of R 3 600.

The two days were probably one of the highlights of Pezula Golf Club as, despite some rather tricky playing conditions on the Sunday, everyone had the most amazing time. The winners Barry Richards and his partner Greg Barnes romped home clear winners by 12 points as well as posting the best scores for Saturday and Sunday. The food was fantastic, the staff were incredible and the atmosphere was electric. Pezula Golf Club at its very best.
